Poilievre blames ‘catch-and-release’ justice system for rise in auto thefts across major cities

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre blamed the Trudeau government’s “catch-and-release” justice system for an increase in auto thefts across Canada. Minister of Justice Arif Virani responded by saying that mandatory minimums for auto theft for repeat offences already exist, and said that “getting tough” with organized crime laundering was key.
