An elderly woman was rescued from her collapsed home in Japan’s Wajima city on Thursday as rescue workers raced to find survivors of the New Year’s Day earthquake, despite a three-day survival window closing. The woman, in her 80s, was conscious while trapped under the collapsed first floor of her home, the Osaka Fire Department said.
