After calls from Pierre Poilievre, Conservative MPs and NDP MPs, Parliamentary secretary Irek Kusmierczyk suggested Monday that local trades workers will be prioritized over foreign workers in the federal government’s job contract with Stellantis in Windsor, Ont. Kusmierczyk said just one ‘temporary’ foreign worker has been approved so far, promising 2,500 job openings for local workers.
