‘It’s unacceptable’: Food bank CEOs demand action as poverty levels in Toronto hit record high
Description
November 14, 2023
After detailing the newly-released annual “Who’s Hungry” report, Daily Bread Food Bank CEO Neil Hetherington and Feed Ontario CEO Carolyn Stewart demanded collective action from municipal, provincial and federal levels of government to address Toronto’s poverty crisis. “It’s no longer acceptable that higher education and employment are no longer a pathway out of poverty … the social safety net is broken,” Hetherington said on Tuesday.
