Edmonton Police Services (EPS) Acting Supt. Colin Derksen said during a Friday update that the “intentional” killing of a 41-year-old man, who was identified as a high-profile gang member, and his 11-year-old son in a vehicle was “sick and twisted” and reflected the changing landscape of organized crime. “Once the shooter or the shooters learned that the son was there, intentionally killed them, shot and killed them, so he was not caught in the crossfire or killed by mistake, intended to kill him,” Dersen said.
