In April, the Toronto Police Services Board approved increasing the number of operator position and revising shift schedules to tackle staffing shortages and cut wait times.

The report voted on by the Toronto Police Services Board on Wednesday comes months after Global News reported about lengthy 911 wait times and staffing issues inside the Toronto police communications centre.

In September, Chief Mark Saunders tasked Deputy Chief Shawna Coxon to do a high-level review of the 911 communication centre. Her review will be considered by the Toronto Police Services Board on Wednesday.
