The former Saint Mary’s University groundskeeper is accused of sexually assaulting a then-19-year-old woman at a Dalhousie University residence on Dec. 6, 2014.

The trial will reconvene on April 15 at Nova Scotia Supreme Court where Judge Joshua Arnold will deliver his decision.

About 20 of the province's 100 prosecutors will remain on the job to handle murder cases, sexual assaults and other serious crimes.

The provinces rely on transfer payments to prosecute criminal offences, which means it's up to Ottawa to increase the cash flow.
