Nashville Mayor Megan Barry resigned Tuesday and pleaded guilty to a felony theft charge, a month after the rising Democratic star admitted to an affair with her bodyguard while on city-paid trips.

The only son of Nashville Mayor Megan Barry has died of an apparent drug overdose, and she asked for privacy as she and her husband face life “without his laughter and love.”
