Said to be the first of its kind in Canada, the Quebec transport ministry has pulled the plug on the city of Brossard's pilot project for traffic calming due to safety concerns.

Hurricane Earl is a slow northward-moving hurricane currently located above the Caribbean, off the shore of Florida. Its swells could be felt this weekend in Nova Scotia.

Police say the man is also facing further charges stemming from the carjacking in Winnipeg.
