A coalition of tax fairness groups told British Columbia's money laundering inquiry Wednesday that hiding ill-gotten cash behind shell companies is so widespread in Canada it's developed an international reputation.

Lawyers for the province say the past cannot be undone but the government can take steps to make B.C. the most difficult jurisdiction to launder money.
