Dr. Deena Hinshaw spoke to Alberta's ability to detect the new COVID-19 variant as the province confirmed an additional 356 cases of the virus on Friday.

Alberta recorded 717 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, 325 of which were variant cases of concern — a new daily record for variant cases in the province.
