Global Edmonton understands that this can be a trying time for many, both mentally and emotionally. We have put together a listing of service providers that you can contact for support. If you need immediate help and are in crisis, call 9-1-1. If you are looking for help dealing with stress or anxiety in these unprecedented times, here are some options for support:

CANADIAN MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION:

The Canadian Mental Health Association is here to help you through these stressful times. They provide recovery-focused programs and services for people of all ages and their families.  If you are feeling anxious or stressed in these uncertain times, call the 24-Hour Distress Line at 780-482-4357.

COMMUNITY AND SOCIAL SERVICES HELPLINE (211 ALBERTA):

211 is a free, confidential service that provides information and referral to a wide range of community, social health and government services. Certified community resource specialists are trained to help you navigate the complex network of social services.

To Access 211:
– Dial 211* for telephone service, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in over 170 languages.
– Text 211 and type INFO to chat live with our support team.

KIDS HELP PHONE:

Kids Help Phone is Canada’s only 24/7, national support service. We offer professional counselling, information and referrals and volunteer-led, text-based support to young people in both English and French. Whether by phone, text, mobile app or through our website, you can connect with us whenever you want, however you want. To reach a Kids Help Phone counsellor 24/7 call 1-800-668-6868 or text CONNECT to 686868.

ADDICTIONS HELPLINE:

The Addiction Helpline is a toll free confidential service which provides alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and problem gambling support, information and referral to services. The Addiction Helpline operates 24 hour a day, seven days a week and is available to all Albertans. Call 1-866-332-2322 (toll free within Alberta) for addiction support.

MENTAL HEALTH HELPLINE:

The Mental Health Helpline provides toll-free, 24/7 telephone service, which offers help for mental health concerns for Albertans. Call 1-877-303-2642 (toll free within Alberta) for mental health advice.

They provide 24/7:
– confidential, anonymous service
– information about mental health programs and services
– referrals to other agencies if needed
