A Vancouver artist and photographer have teamed up for calendar celebrating moustaches in support of prostate cancer research.
Artist Chris Snell and photographer Alex Waber have created a 2014 calendar called “Movember – Calendar for Men’s Health” featuring the “Masculine Moustache Men.”
In the calendar, the men are dressed up in ridiculous and elaborate costumes, some of them barely clothed apart from their luxurious moustaches.
All proceeds from the sale of the calendars goes to their Mo Space fundraising page.
Snell says he started growing moustaches about four years ago and fundraising for Movember, but the dream was always to do a calendar.
“Three years ago, we started taking pictures, our photographer Alex set up a proper set, and we started taking photos. We put those on our Mo Space page, and we encouraged other friends to join in, and then their friends joined in too.”

Snell says it’s important that a cure is found, and he wants to do whatever he can to help.
“Some of us have had grandparents, parents with prostate cancer. But this just started off as a fun cause. We hope to raise $5,000 by the end of the month.”
Staff at the University Barber Shop at Wesbrook Village are also doing their part to help raise money for the group’s Mo Space.
“We asked that if we do a moustache trim on a guy, we ask them to make a small donation to Movember, and then on top of that, all of our barbers are donating half of their tips for the month of November,” says owner Brennan Cuff. “We want to support this, so no one in our families has to deal with this.”
The barber shop is holding its biggest Movember fundraising event on November 30, from 5pm to 8pm. “No More Mo” will offer complementary straight razor shaves in exchange for donations to Movember.
