EDMONTON – The City of Edmonton is again extending the parking ban that’s been in place since Sunday morning; that’s after another snowfall dumped an estimated 10 centimetres of the white stuff on Edmonton from Thursday to Friday.

The latest flurries brought the total accumulation for November in the city to about 50 centimetres, 32 centimetres above average for this month.

Crews will continue to plow arterial and collector routes on Friday and Saturday.

Residents, meanwhile, are asked to keep their vehicles off routes with “Seasonal Parking Ban” signage until further notice. Those who park there risk getting ticketed or towed.

As of Thursday, bylaw officers had issued just under 1,050 tickets of $50. On Friday, officers handed out an addition 69 tickets.

The ban will remain in effect until the plowing cycle is complete across the city.

The City budgets about $6.1 million for snow removal for November, a dollar figure that’s quickly approaching.

“November’s been not good for us,” admitted Bob Dunford, Director of Roadway Maintenance with the City of Edmonton.
