A man was arrested and released without charge Saturday following what Durham Regional Police say was a deadly fight in Oshawa, Ont., during the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police said an incident took place around Bloor Street East and Wilson Road South in Oshawa before 6 a.m.
Officers told Global News a male victim was pronounced dead, and one person was arrested. The incident was a fight, according to police.
In an update on Saturday evening, police explained the call came from a paramedic, who had arrived at a home in the area to find a male victim had died. At that point, police said a male suspect was taken into custody for aggravated assault and homicide detectives took charge.
After a “thorough investigation,” police said the man was released without charge. Officers continue to probe events leading up to the death.
“This is an isolated incident and there is no risk to public safety,” police said.
