It's always interesting when you're trying to find accommodations in an evacuation zone. The sheer premise of that notion, of course, is that there's nowhere to stay.
Enter travelling reporter and cameraman.
The conundrum was solved after an hour and half of calling around – and discovering a brand new fishing resort just outside of Lillooet, B.C., called Fraser Canyon River Ranch.
They had yurts. Uh-huh. Yurts.
Get breaking National news
A word so fun to pronounce, I've found excuses just to say it again.
I'm told yurts are old Mongolian structures…large and round…tent-like with bamboo beams supporting them.

But these were no ordinary yurts. Tim (the nice man who owns the place) furnished the yurts with a dining room set, a living room, and four beds. All this overlooked the beautiful Fraser River.
The only problem? We only saw the yurt for five hours. Four hours and 45 minutes of that was spent sleeping.
Still, I'm officially a yurt fan. (Say it, it's fun.)
And while we're on the topic of Lillooet, I just have to say how wonderful the people are there. You know those towns where you leave and say, "Oh…they were SO nice!"? Well, this is one of those towns. Hit the bakery/cafe on Main Street if you decide to pay the town a visit. It's a gem.
