WINNIPEG – Julie Dayholos, who was badly injured in a plane crash near Red Lake, Ont., on Nov. 10, is thanking people for their love and support.

“Words cannot describe the overwhelming feeling of love and support that I have received over the past few days,” Dayholos said in a statement released on Thursday morning. “I want everyone to know that I am doing well and on the road to recovery.”

Dayholos was injured when a Bearskin Airlines Flight 311, a twin-engine Metro Fairchild turboprop, crashed at about 6:30 p.m. She was rescued by a fellow Bearskin Airlines employee who escaped the plane with relatively minor injuries.

The crash killed the pilots, Peter Traczuk, 34, and Aniruddh Sawant, 25, both of whom lived in Winnipeg, and Red Lake residents Anna Johannesson, 53, Sharon Taylor, 64, and Peter Struk, 53, all passengers on the plane.
