The Calgary Police Service has identified the victim killed in Saturday’s Martindale triple shooting.
At around 3 p.m. Saturday, police responded to shots fired near the 100 block of Martindale Boulevard. One man was killed and two others were injured. Witnesses say it happened in the back alley.
Two men were in custody in relation to the shooting, CPS said in a news release Monday. They have since been released but are still being questioned by police, said Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson on Wednesday.
Police have not yet located the suspect vehicle believed to be involved in the incident.
An autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Monday found that James Allan Feeney, 33, of Calgary died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.
The two other shooting victims remain in hospital in stable condition, police said.
“This is a tragic incident which appears to have resulted from a senseless confrontation and has now left one person dead and two others injured,” Gregson told reporters on Tuesday.
“We’ve been working around the clock the past three days to hold those responsible.”
Feeney’s family urged the public to come forward with any information that could help the police’s investigation.
“We are devastated by this senseless act of violence. We’re reaching out to the community to ask for any information that could help the police in their investigation into James Feeney’s murder,” the family’s statement read.
“Your assistance could be crucial in bringing justice for James Feeney and closure for our family. We understand that this is a difficult time for everyone involved, but we believe working together can make a difference.”
