Hilary Duff, Mike Comrie marry in California

EDMONTON – Actress Hilary Duff and Edmonton hockey star Mike Comrie have tied the knot, according to magazine reports.

A representative for Duff confirmed to OK! Magazine the couple were married on Saturday evening in Santa Barbara, Calif. Duff and Comrie were married at sunset in front of a crowd of about 100 people, according to a story on the magazine’s website. Duff, 22, wore a mermaid wedding gown by Vera Wang, according OK! Magazine.

The celebrity wedding was set to be held at the San Ysideo Ranch, according to In Touch Weekly, where late U.S. president John F. Kennedy spent his honeymoon with his wife Jacqueline in 1953. A source disclosed to In Touch Weekly that Duff and Comrie chose the venue for “its sense of old Hollywood glamour and romantic style.”

Duff and Comrie, 29, were engaged in February while on vacation in Hawaii. The couple were together for two years prior to their engagement.

Comrie’s first term with the Edmonton Oilers ended in December 2003 when he left the team over a salary dispute. Last September, he signed a one-year contract for $1.25 million US, and was sick with mononucleosis for part of the season. Comrie became a free agent player in July.

In 2001, Duff landed the title role of the popular Disney television show Lizzie McGuire. She has also pursued a music career, selling over 13 million albums. Her latest album, Dignity, was released in 2007.
