West Kelowna RCMP say at least five poppy donation boxes have been stolen from local businesses since October 31, with two being stolen today.
One man, captured on surveillance camera, is believed to be responsible for at least three of the poppy thefts, and also the theft of a donation box from Ronald McDonald House.
Each box contained an unknown amount of cash donated to The Legion’s Poppy Fund, meant to support Veterans, and the Ronald McDonald House which supports seriously ill children.

In at least three of the cases, the man waits until a staff member is distracted and then steals the box.
“It’s disappointing really because those donations are meant to support veterans and families of very sick children, and someone has come to the point where they’ve come before that,” says Kris Clark with the Kelowna RCMP.
Maggie Lauinger with the West Kelowna Legion says these people have no respect for our veterans and their families.
Anyone with any information regarding the identity of the suspect is asked to call the West Kelowna RCMP, Cst Folz at 250-768-2880. Remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or by texting your tip to CRIMES (274637)
