TORONTO – People in the Philippines are keeping a close eye on yet another storm threatening its capital, after a tropical depression moved through the storm-ravaged country on Monday.
Tropical Depression 30W moved through Visayas, Philippines, yesterday bringing heavy rain and high winds.
Though the tropical depression has lost some of its strength, it is expected to restrengthen over the warmer waters of the South China Sea as it heads toward Vietnam.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Haiyan is moving through Micronesia and headed toward the Philippines, threatening the country’s capital, Manila, home to almost 2 million people.

The storm is producing winds of 110 knots, with wave heights of near 30 feet.
The Joint Typhoon Warning Center is expecting Haiyan to strengthen to a Category 4 storm before making landfall in the Philippines on Nov. 8, with winds of 222 km/h.
