1 stabbed in Ajax, Ont. GO station assault, police say

One person is in life-threatening condition after an assault at a GO Transit station in Durham Region, police say.

Durham Regional Police said they were called to a reported assault at Ajax GO station on Tuesday afternoon.

Police told Global News the incident was reported at around 2:20 p.m.

In an update on Tuesday evening, police said the incident was a stabbing. They said the male victim, who was initially in life-threatening condition, had been upgraded to stable.

“There are no arrests at this time and no suspect description yet,” a spokesperson for Durham Regional Police said.

In a statement sent to Global News, Metrolinx — which operates GO trains and buses — said they were assisting police with their inquiries.

“The safety of everyone who uses our transit network is our top priority and our thoughts are with the victim,” the statement said.
