Man in his 60s in hospital after being stabbed in chest in Toronto

Editor’s note: Police originally said they were searching for two suspects in connection with a stabbing in Toronto’s east end. In an update on Sunday afternoon, officers said the injuries were actually self-inflicted.

A man in his 60s is in hospital following a stabbing in Toronto’s Leslieville neighbourhood.

Police said the incident took place in the area of Eastern and Logan avenues just after midnight on Sunday morning. Police found a man with a stab wound to his chest.

He was rushed to hospital under an emergency run, police said.

Despite initially saying officers were looking for two male suspects, an update on Sunday afternoon said the injuries were self-inflicted.

“Further investigation has revealed that the injury was self-inflicted and not the result of a criminal act,” Toronto police said in a tweet.
