Howard, Martin advance to curling final

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – Glenn Howard needed an extra end to move into the Masters Grand Slam of Curling final.

Howard, from Coldwater, Ont., blew a 3-1 lead but scored a single in the final end to beat Winnipeg’s Jeff Stoughton 4-3 on Saturday.

Howard, who is unbeaten at the tournament, will face Edmonton’s Kevin Martin in Sunday’s final. Martin advanced with a 4-2 victory against China’s Rui Lui.

In women’s play, Ottawa’s Rachel Homan will face Scotland’s Eve Muirhead in the final.

Homan advanced by scoring three in the seventh end to beat Switzerland’s Mirjam Ott 6-3, while Muirhead cruised by Winnipeg’s Jennifer Jones 7-3.
