Peel Regional Police say a man has serious stab wound injuries after an ‘unprovoked attack’ in Mississauga on Tuesday.
Police said the stabbing occurred just after 4:41 p.m. on in the Hurontario Street and Fairview Road area.
Investigators said a suspect, not known to the victim, approached him from behind and stabbed him.
Peel paramedics told Global News one man was taken to local hospital in serious condition.
Police said the victim was then transferred to a trauma centre where he is in critical but stable condition.
The suspect then fled the area, running southbound on Hurontario Street, and then eastbound onto John Street. police said.
Officers said the suspect is a man in his 30s, about five-feet-eight to five-feet-nine inches tall, with a medium build. He was seen wearing a green shiny puffy coat, grey sweat pants and white shoes at the time of the unprovoked attack.
Police have issued a public safety alert warning that the suspect is armed and dangerous.
