Get your shingles vaccine

A vaccine against shingles has just been released in Canada, and it's recommended for everyone over the age of 60, because ask anyone who's had it, you really don't want to get shingles (the vaccine is not perfvect, but once you get vaccinated, even if you do get shingles, it tends to be much milder than it otherwise might be).

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

And if you need even more inducement, a study out this week shows that in the year following a shingles outbreak, a person is up to 30 % more likely to suffer a stroke than someone who has not suffered a shingles attack.

It's not an easy shot to get (it's expensive, and it's very hard to store, so you probably have to make special arrangements to get one), but it's definitely worth the expense and the bother.
