SASKATOON – The Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) officially opened its new mineral processing pilot plant Friday in Saskatoon.

The plant will support the development of new and improved methods of processing minerals like potash, uranium and rare earth metals.

“This is just a way that helps save a little bit of time and money and allow them to refine those processes before they go into production,” said Craig Murray, SRC mining and minerals VP.

“Also if they have a process already that they would like to test or revise or tune up they can do it here and then they don’t have to stop their own mill.”

It is now fully operational and already taking requests from the mining industry to increase yields and decrease costs.

With 66 years of experience, SRC provides services and products to 1,800 clients in 24 countries.
