A truck driver has been charged after a pedestrian on a mobility scooter was struck in downtown Halifax on Friday afternoon.
Police said they responded at 2 p.m. to the intersection of Hollis Street and Terminal Road, after a freightliner truck travelling southbound on Hollis struck an 83-year-old woman who was using a mobility scooter in the crosswalk.
Police said the driver of the truck had “proceeded through the stop sign.”

The woman was taken to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The 53-year-old man driving the truck was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and failing to stop at a stop sign.
