PENTICTON – A man who admitted to the horrific assault of a young Penticton woman should be locked up indefinitely.
That’s the position of the Crown as it seeks a dangerous offender designation for David Wesley Bobbitt..
He has pleaded guilty to seven charges stemming from the attack in the summer of 2011 when a 22 year old woman was tied up, severely beaten and sexually assaulted inside Bobbitt’s second hand store.

The attack spanned a period of about 15 hours, while the victim’s two year old son was present.
The child was not hurt.
Bobbitt was arrested several days later after being spotted setting up a camp in an Oliver orchard.
A date for the dangerous offender hearing, which is expected to last about a month, has not yet been set.
The Crown’s application will rely heavily on Bobbitt’s psychiatric evaluations.
The vast majority of dangerous offender designations are for habitual criminals involved in sex assault crimes.
They are deemed too dangerous to be released from prison.
About two dozen such designations are made annually in Canada.
