KELOWNA, BC; A familiar face is returning to head up the Kelowna Community Food Bank .
Lenetta Parry spent more than seven years with the organization, recently as associate executive director, before taking a job with the West Kelowna Food Bank earlier this year.
But Parry won’t be leaving her job in West Kelowna, instead will now act as executive director for both charities.
“It makes sense for both Food Banks to work in unison,” says Parry about her new position as head of both food banks.
The Kelowna Food Bank lost long time manager Vonnie Lavers in September. She was asked to resign, but is said to have left willingly to pursue other ventures. Lavers has not made a statement regarding her departure from the job and has not returned phone calls.
The Westbank Food Bank serves 300 households a month, whereas the Kelowna Food Bank serves 100 households every day.
Parry’s salary will be shared by both organizations, which will be a cost saving measure.
Global Okanagan News will also be following up with outstanding financial questions for the board chair of the Kelowna Food Bank on tonight’s news.
