Raw video: Massive protest in Rio de Janeiro turns violent

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil – Brazilian police say more than 200 demonstrators were arrested during Tuesday night’s violent protest in Rio de Janeiro.

Those arrested were allegedly among the masked members of the so-called Black Bloc anarchist group that hurled gasoline bombs, rocks, bottles and pieces of wood at police during a demonstration held to show support for public school teachers who have been on strike for more than two months seeking higher pay.

In Sao Paulo where similar scenes of violence took place during a demonstration by teachers, police say they detained close to 60 people, but released them all hours later.
