Canoe paddle held in protest of Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion

Members of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation held a canoe paddle and ceremony this morning in opposition to the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion.

Five traditional canoes participated, including guests from Musqueam and Squamish Nations.

The canoes launched from Whey-ah-Whichen, Tseil Waututh Nation Cates Park and traveled to the Kinder Morgan terminal.

The group says the ceremony was undertaken “to heal the land and waters occupied by the Kinder Morgan tarsands pipeline and tanker terminus.”
