SASKATOON – Idle No More protesters in Saskatchewan say they are looking forward to the chance to speak with a special representative of the United Nations.

Spokeswoman Erica Lee says they are scheduled to meet Sunday in Fort Qu’Appelle with James Anaya, who represents the UN on indigenous rights.

He is preparing a report on the state of First Nations.

The government will get a chance to respond to the report before it is presented to the United Nations Human Rights Council next year.

Lee says it’s daunting to speak to someone who has so much power and influence, but they hope his report will put more pressure on the federal government to work with First Nations people.
