A man died in southeast Calgary Wednesday morning, and police are now looking for a truck. Investigators believe the man was a victim of a hit and run.
At around 5:10 a.m., Calgary police were called to the 1700 block of 35 Street S.E. for reports of a man in medical distress. EMS attended the scene and transported the man to hospital where he later died.
According to a news release sent out by police on Wednesday, the fatality was considered to be an “undetermined death.” However, on Thursday police said investigators have identified a suspect and vehicle believed to be involved in the collision
Police say the victim, a 34-year-old man, had been at an area bar. It’s believed the man left the bar and at some point was “holding onto the door handle of a departing red truck when he fell alongside the vehicle and was run over.”
CPS believes the truck left the scene before returning a short while later to check on the victim. Both the driver and the vehicle have been located.
This investigation has since been taken over by the Calgary Police Service Traffic Section and police don’t expect to release any new information.
