SASKATOON – Saskatoon city council is set to discuss adult entertainment venues, disaster assistance, Marquis Drive and street sweeping program on Monday.
Councillors will be asked to approve advertising for proposed bylaw amendments for adult entertainment venues before a provincial liquor regulation is implemented on Jan. 1, 2014.
A date for a public hearing will then be set.
It is recommended that adult entertainment venues have a minimum separation distance of 160 metres from any residential areas, schools, parks, child care centres or recreational facilities.
Council is being asked to approve a request for designation under the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP) due to damages sustained by the riverbank slope failure.
The city says discrete slumping on 11th Street East and Saskatchewan Crescent East began in June, 2012 and continued to move this year.

The city wants the province to designate slumping areas as eligible assistance areas so any assistance under PDAP is available to residences suffering property damage.
In August, the provincial government said research indicated the slumping has been a pre-existing condition dating back to at least 1999.
Administration is looking for an additional $630,000 from the arterial road reserve for design changes to Marquis Drive.
Construction between Siemens Avenue and ldylwyld Drive is needed to incorporate a future overpass at Marquis Drive and ldylwyld.
Additional costs arose due to a high water table in the Marquis Industrial area.
Replacement of sub-grade material and installation of a drainage system was deemed the most cost-effective solution for completing construction.
Also on the agenda is a report with the communications plan for the fall street sweeping pilot program including the development of a centralized information hub.
A three-week program is scheduled to begin in October, affecting 15 neighbourhoods.
A street sweeping hotline centre will be tested during this pilot program. The function of the hotline is to manage vehicle relocation, program status, phone calls, emails and social media.
