Two people were sent to hospital following a crash on King Street West at Dundurn Street South in Hamilton on Monday.
Police say the collision happened just after 9 a.m. and involved a transport truck towing a trailer and a sedan.
“What we believe happened is the tractor trailer was … attempting to make a left turn onto King Street from Dundurn when the four door black vehicle … traveling south on Dundurn attempted to … go through the intersection,’ Cst. Indy Bharaj said during an update at the scene.
Dundurn between Main and King was shut down for about eight hours as well as three lanes of King between Strathcona and Dundurn.
A 31-year-old male driver was extricated from the Acura by Hamilton fire and transported to a trauma centre with serious injuries.
Bharaj said the 12-year-old passenger was transported to McMaster Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.
Both were conscious when sent to hospital, according to Bharaj.
The truck driver, 51, was not seriously injured and has been cooperating with the police investigation.
