Police say no criminal charges have been laid in connection with a threat investigation at a Brampton, Ont., high school.
On Monday, Peel Regional Police said six youths had been taken into custody after Fletchers Public Secondary School was placed on lockdown for around an hour over reports of a threat.
In a press release, police said at around 2:20 p.m., officers received report of a potential gun on school property.
Officers said five students were identified in the school who were “believed to be involved.”
“They were all taken into custody without incident,” the release reads.
Police said a sixth student was arrested later at a Brampton residence.
According to police, the weapon in question turned out to be a BB gun.
“It was determined that no threats were made to anyone and at no time was there any danger to students and staff of Fletchers Meadow Secondary School,” the release reads.
The force said no criminal charges will be laid, and all students were released to their parents.
“Police are urging parents to have conversations with their children about not bringing any weapons to school under any circumstances,” the release said.
