Winnipeggers making a trip to the emergency room can now get an idea how long they’ll wait to see a doctor.
The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority has started posting ER wait times on its website.
http://www.wrha.mb.ca/wait-times/
Mid-Wednesday afternoon the online chart showed patients faced the longest wait at Grace hospital, where 10 people were waiting and the average wait was pegged at 2 hours and 45 minutes. It also showed the longest wait at Grace was 5 hours 15 minutes.
The shortest wait shown was an average 45 minutes at Concordia hospital with seven patients waiting.
The WRHA warns the wait times can change dramatically in a short time, depending on high-priority emergency cases that arrive and bump lower priority patients.
“Emergency demands can change quickly and dramatically,” the WHRA says on the website.
“Due to these changing demands in emergency departments, these wait times posted on this website may not be the time you will need to wait once you arrive at the emergency department. The provision of the wait times on the website are not medical advice or a recommendation of one emergency department over another.”
