One person was killed and two firefighters were sent to hospital following a fire near Westport late Tuesday night.
Crews with Rideau Lakes Fire and Rescue responded to a call for a structure fire on Concession Road 9 at approximately 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Leeds OPP say a body was located inside the home once the fire was extinguished. The identity of the dead person is being held.
Leeds OPP Crime Unit and the Forensic Identification Services Unit are conducting the investigation in conjunction with Ontario’s Office of the Fire Marshal, the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
The two firefighters were injured when the ceiling of the building collapsed.
There’s no word yet on the extent of their injuries.
