RCMP say a car heading north crossed into the on-coming lane and collided with a semi trailer, causing the tractor trailer unit to catch fire.

The driver of the semi managed to escape the collision and fire unharmed.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead on scene.

RCMP say the identity of the victim has yet to be determined.

An RCMP collision analyst was on scene Thursday morning. The cause of the crash hasn’t been determined but alcohol isn’t believed to have been a factor.
