Police conclude search for missing 78-year-old Hamilton-area woman, now deceased

The search for a missing 78-year-old from the Hamilton-area is over after the discovery the elderly woman’s body, according to police.

Prior to locating Denise Gloster, investigators said a search effort had intensified on Tuesday for the woman who went missing from her Dundas home on Halloween night.

Investigators did not reveal the nature of the death.

Hamilton police thanked those who took to time to share their posts on Gloster and sent condolences to the family via Twitter.

“Thank you to the public for sharing information and volunteering to help locate Denise,” police said in a release.

“Over the past two days, nearly 120 individuals volunteered their time during the search.”

Const. Krista-Lee Ernst previously said Gloster was an “avid walker” and known to make treks through Dundas, Ancaster, Flamborough and Hamilton.

Investigators say she suffered from early onset dementia.

The missing woman’s daughter, Kyra, called the episode “a sad ending” and also thanked those helping in the search.
