A 43-year-old man is facing a murder charge in the death of his mother at a North York home Saturday night, Toronto police say.
Emergency services were called to a home on Northover Street in the area of Sheppard Avenue West and Jane Street for reports of unknown trouble at 10 p.m.
Police said officers arrived and found a woman suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Toronto paramedics said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Police later identified her as 67-year-old Vincenza Galloro.
Officers took a man into custody.
In an update Sunday morning, investigators said Toronto resident Antonio Galloro was charged with second-degree murder.
Investigators said the victim is the suspect’s mother.
He appeared in a Toronto court virtually at 10 a.m. Sunday.
