Edmonton – A motorcyclist died Sunday night after a crash in Edmonton’s River Valley.

Police say the 21-year-old motorcyclist collided into the side of a mini-van on Victoria Park Road, shortly before 7 p.m.

Police say the mini-van was making an illegal U-turn at the time of the collision as it was heading east on Victoria Park Road. The motorcyclist was driving behind the mini-van. Charges are pending against the 47-year-old driver of the mini-van.

The motorcyclist died on scene shortly after emergency crews arrived.

There were six people in the mini-van, four were treated for minor injuries at a hospital. They were all treated and released.

Police don’t believe alcohol was a factor. However, they are investigating whether speed on the part of the motorcyclist played a role in the crash.
