RCMP said they received a call at around 6:45 a.m. about the collision involving a pedestrian on Highway 2, south of the Highway 2A exit.
RCMP said preliminary investigation has revealed that a truck was heading north on the highway when it struck a woman who was walking in the driving lane.
Police said the 31-year-old woman, from Edmonton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 50-year-old man driving the truck and a 28-year-old male passenger were not injured, police said.
The northbound lanes of the QEII were closed at Glen Park Road, which is about seven kilometres south of Leduc. At 11:14 a.m., RCMP said the roadway had since reopened.
Leduc RCMP’s integrated traffic unit and an RCMP collision analyst continue to investigate, but police say no further updates are anticipated.
