Section of QEW fully reopens after being closed due to concerns over hydro lines

A section of the Queen Elizabeth Way has reopened after being closed for several hours after a truck crashed into a hydro pole on Wednesday.

Peel Regional Police said on Twitter that they were called to the scene in the area of South Service Road and Haig Boulevard shortly before 4 p.m.

Police said a truck hit a hydro pole, causing wires to fall across a roadway and vehicles.

In an update, officers said no injuries were reported.

Mississauga Fire tweeted that all occupants were safely removed from their vehicles.

The westbound QEW was closed from Highway 427 to Cawthra and the eastbound lanes were closed from Cawthra to Dixie.

Sections of both North and South Service roads were also closed.

Shortly after midnight, police said Alectra Utilities were able to secure the hydro lines and hydro pole across the QEW. The QEW has now reopened.
