The blaze was found under a stairwell that spread into the ceiling space between the first and second floor, according to a press release.

Officials said utilities were shut down for safety.

A fire investigator concluded the cause to be an electrical failure, originating in the wall space adjacent to the stairwell.

The department estimate damage to be $300,000.
