Ottawa police believe Carlington shooting that wounded 15-year-old boy was targeted

The Ottawa police guns and gangs unit is looking to speak to witnesses after a teenage boy was shot in the Carlington area on Monday.

A 15-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound approached a patrol vehicle in the 1400 block of Caldwell Avenue at 11:15 p.m. Monday and asked for help, police said the following morning.

He was taken to hospital by Ottawa paramedics and is now listed in stable condition.

The suspect is still at large and no description has yet been released.

Police said in an update Tuesday afternoon that they believe the shooting was targeted.

The guns and gangs unit is asking any witnesses or nearby residents who might have surveillance footage of the incident to call 613-236-1222 ext. 5050. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
