Double shooting in Richmond, B.C. leaves two people dead: police

Richmond RCMP confirmed Saturday that two people died in a double shooting Friday night.

Police said they were called to the area of Westminster Highway and Barnard Drive around 8:40 p.m.

Neighbours told Global News they heard gunshots followed by police sirens in the area, near Terra Nova Park in West Richmond.

Police remained on scene Saturday, and said that the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team had been deployed.

IHIT said there was “no concern for public safety,” and appealed to the public for any video shot in the area at the time of the shooting.

RCMP did not provide details about the age or sex of the victims, or a potential motive.

It was not immediately clear if the shooting was related to the ongoing Lower Mainland gang conflict.
