Toronto police say a 35-year-old motorcyclist has died after a crash in the city’s west end late Saturday.
A police spokesperson told Global News emergency crews were called to the corner of Forty Second Street and Lake Shore Boulevard West, a short distance away from the entrance of the Long Branch GO Station, at around 10:15 p.m.
In a statement released late Sunday, officers said the man riding the 2018 Kawasaki motorcycle was going east along Lane Shore Boulevard West “at a high rate of speed” when the motorcycle collided with a BMW turning west onto Lake Shore Boulevard West from the northbound lane of Forty Second Street.
The force of the crash caused heavy front-end damage to the motorcycle and the motorcyclist died at the scene, marking the city’s sixth traffic-related fatality in 2021.
Officers closed part of Lake Shore Boulevard West for nearly four hours while investigators gathered evidence.
