ST. BRIEUX, Sask. – A report into a mid-air plane crash almost a year ago that took the lives of a Regina couple and three people from Alberta has concluded that neither pilot likely saw the other until it was too late to react.
Susan Joy Jackson, 57, and her husband, Robert Eric Jackson, 60, were in one plane headed to a fishing camp at La Ronge, Sask.

The other plane was occupied by Denny Loree, Eric Donovan and his 11-year-old son, Wade – all from Mossleigh, Alta.
The weather was sunny and clear near St. Brieux but the wings of the two light planes touched, sending them both crashing to the ground.

The National Transportation Safety Board says the converging position of the two planes would have made it difficult for either to see the oncoming craft.
The report says there was no chance for reaction time to avert the tragedy.
